Born in Barton Road on the 15th September 1890, Agatha Christie's Torquay and the surrounding area boasts a number of personal and literary connections that will be of interest to any Agatha Christie fan. The following list represents some of the most well known.

All Saints Church, Torre

Agatha Christie was baptised here on the 20th November 1890.

Ansteys Cove

Agatha Christie is said to have had a romantic liason here with Amyas Boston. A name subsequently used for one of her characters in 'Five Little Pigs'.

Beacon Cove

A young Agatha Christie regularly swam and was saved from drowning here.

Burgh Island

The hotel on Burgh island is where Agatha Christie wrote 'And Then There Were None' and 'Evil Under the Sun'. The island also provided the setting for these two Christie classics.

Churston Ferres

Agatha Christie regularly visited this lovely village. The local railway station appears in 'The ABC Murders'.

Cockington Court

This is where Agatha Christie tread the boards (well the lawns actually) in open air theatrical performances.

Elberry Cove

Another of Agatha christie's favourite spots. Last resting place of Sir Carmichael Clark in 'The ABC Murders'.

The Grand Hotel

Agatha and Archie spend their honeymoon here after their Christmas Eve wedding 1914.

Greenway Gardens

Agatha Christie's family home. 300 acres of land were handed to the National trust in 1999 and the gardens were opened to the public in 2002.

Imperial Hotel

Agatha Christie attended many social events and tea dances here. Reinvented as the Majestic hotel in 'Peril at End House'.

Kents Cavern

Agatha christie's father partly financed the excavations of kents Caverns, which appears as Hempsley cavern in 'The Man in the Brown Suit'.

Paignton & Dartmouth Steam Railway

Provided the route taken by Hercule Poirot in 'The ABC Murders' and 'Dead Mans Folly'.

Princess Gardens

Featured in 'The ABC Murders'.

Torquay Town Hall

Agatha Christie worked here as a nurse during the first world war. During this time She was transferred to the dispensary where she is said to have learned all there was to know about deadly poisions!

The Agatha Christie Mile

A number of the locations mentioned above form part of the Agatha Christie Mile which takes in a toal of 10 landmarks in and around Torquay harbour and seafront.
